Zcash ‘s next upgrade will “allow shielded transactions to be completed with about 100 times less memory, and probably six times faster”

Zcash (ZEC) has been widely hailed as one of the best privacy-centric coins thanks to its cryptography (zk-snarks) which allow shielded transactions to take place. However, these shields need a lot of computational power, making most users and exchanges struggle to support it.

The new upgrade Sapling will enable the shielded transactions to be more easily processed by wallets and exchanges, and is scheduled for October 29th.

CTO of ZEC Nathan Wilcox has stressed its importance stating the upgrade will “allow shielded transactions to be completed with about 100 times less memory, and probably six times faster”.
